A glimpse of the action: PINTURA : PALABRA in DC

Brenda, Valerie and I spent an hour and some change last night at Busboys, debriefing, going over what we thought went well about this past "pilot" weekend, and what we'll want to tweak. When Letras Latinas first conceived of this "workshop," it was primarily going to be a generative one--that is: creating a space and circumstance to produce new ekphrastic work. And it was that, not only via the pre-workshop assignments, but also during time spent at the exhibit, on Saturday primarily. But as things unfolded, and work was submitted, actual workshopping of poems did take place. I decided to try and capture a snippet of this in the video above. In short, it was rich and various and memorable weekend we're all still processing as we move forward and look ahead to the next stop of "Our America: The Latino Presence in American Art": Miami.
