The New York Times on Sáenz's The Book of What Remains

THE BOOK OF WHAT REMAINS
By Benjamin Alire Sáenz
123 pages; Copper Canyon Press
The New York Times recently ran a feature on small press poetry.  One of the new titles highlighted is The Book of What Remains by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. The Times says: "It’s clear that (Sáenz) prefers the desert of mesquite, cactus and arroyos to dry and unquestioned cultural pieties. Referring to “Hamlet,” he writes, 'Do you know how many literary critics love that play more than they love people?'"
