THE OUTER BANDS at "Chloe's Cabaret"

Were it not for the current endowment campaign Letras Latinas finds itself in, I'd likely have posted sooner that the winner of the second edition of the Andres Montoya Poetry Prize is now in print!

Today, on the University of Notre Dame's News and Information page, there is a nice press release about The Outer Bands which eloquently describes the book, and includes a photograph of Gabe, as well.

Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center (DPAC) has also posted the announcement about Gabriel Gomez's and Valerie Martinez's forthcoming appearance at Chloe's Cabaret---a two-year-old partnership between Letras Latinas, the Performing Arts Center, and the Creative Writing Program, which takes place in the Regis Philbin Studio Theatre ("the black box"). The announcement includes bios and links to their respective websites. Have a peek.

Gabe and Valerie will be joining a roster of fine poets who have performed at Chloe's. Last year alone included appearances by: Barbara Jane Reyes, Tyehimba Jess, Victor Hernandez Cruz, Naomi Ayala, Richard Blanco, and Cathy Park Hong, to name a few. Instrumental in putting these on were Cornelius Eady and Joyelle McSweeney, esteemed colleagues at ND.
